Bibs are making a renaissance as skiers everywhere are realizing the benefits of keeping wind and snow out while holding pants comfortably in place while free skiing the resort or touring with a backpack. The Headwall Bib is our solution for those really great days, the deep ones.
We started like we always do, with the fabrics. The Headwall bib employs a 3 Layer construction with a durable all-way stretch woven fabric outer layer and expanded Polytetrafluoroethylene (ePTFE) waterproof breathable membrane and very lightweight backing fabric attached to the interior. This lightweight backing helps to improve comfort by absorbing moisture from the inside and transporting it through the membrane and to the surface of the face fabric. This interior lining also helps protect the waterproof membrane from being dissolved by skin-borne substances.
3-Layer construction is the most advanced, protective, packable, durable and breathable construction method, and also the most expensive. But when tasked with developing a fabric that excels in the worst conditions, this is the ideal approach, and these garments excel in the most sustained extreme conditions.
The result is a trim-fitting garment that does not get in the way of skiing, yet allows the athlete to move freely without restriction, a core feature of all SYNC Performance products. Add to the already superior waterproofness of the 3 layer construction a 20K/20K C6 Durable Water Repellent (DWR) Coating, this highly breathable fabric enables freedom of movement while simultaneously allowing your water vapor sweat to escape and rain and snow bead right off you.
Designed originally for blower powder days and storm skiing, we included the most popular features from our other products like the taped YKK zippers that keep the wind out, the full-length side venting that keep the elements out but vent air when and where you need it and adjustable waist Velcro straps provide the ability to custom-tailor the fit to different body types. And finally the Superfabric Scuff Guards are required because of our athlete's preference towards edges sharper than a surgeon's scalpel but we just slightly raised the heel trim provides easy access to Backcountry A/T Boot walk modes.
In addition to the standard pants’ pockets, two chest pockets provide ample storage for tools, snacks, radios, or whatever else you might need. The Headwall Stretch bib. It might just be the last pair of ski pants you ever buy.
