On the Hunt For World Cup Starts with Foreste Peterson

by Ryan Collopy on February 13, 2020

Check out what Foreste has been up to and how her season has been going!

Q: So where did you grow up skiing?

A: Squaw Valley.

Q: What is your favorite discipline and why?

A: GS because there is no better feeling than linking a string of sweet GS turns together.

Q: How has this season been going so far? Are you on track for the goals you set out for yourself at the beginning of the season?

A: My season started really strong with a couple of Nor-Am podiums and a World Cup start at Killington. I, unfortunately, had some rough races at Burke after the New Year but I am still on track to go after a Nor-Am GS and slalom title, which I had set out myself this season.

Q: So where do you see yourself in five years?

A: If not competing on the World Cup, then I see myself working in the ski racing world while also pursuing big mountain skiing goals.

Q: If you could give yourself one piece of advice when you first started racing what would it be?

A: Compare yourself less to those around you and focus more on what you can do to better yourself.

Q: Can you walk us through your pre-race routine and describe how you mentally prepare?

A: My pre-race routine typically includes a morning warm-up (jog, dynamic warmup, core, and foam rolling), oats and coffee for breakfast, a couple of free ski warmup runs before and after inspection, and some visualization. I try to keep things as simple as possible from a mental standpoint. Honing in on one technical focus and one tactical focus seems to work the best.

Q: Finally, we have to know, if you could be any part of a burger what would it be and why?

A: I would be the pickle because it's sweet and salty

Perfect ski parka

Warm, dry, and comfortable, and fits perfectly.

Great Pant

Great Pant, wish the inseam was an inch or two longer though, or you offered longs.

Jacket Feedback

Fits great and very functional. I recommend this jacket.

New favorite

Daughter wanted a coat for those cold gate training nights and race days.. something warm and long to wear over her GS suit , and had been eyeing mine for some time ( I coach, and this is my go to coat). As a 5'7" - 110lbs teenager who wears women's Small, the unisex XS fits her perfectly. She now also uses as an all around pre/post training coat for cold nights in our northwest ski resorts. Huge pockets, and helmet friendly hood.. Her new go to coat.

Training Short

Everything is perfect about these shorts. Great fit and quality
