On the Hunt For World Cup Starts with Foreste Peterson

by Ryan Collopy on February 13, 2020

Check out what Foreste has been up to and how her season has been going!

Q: So where did you grow up skiing?

A: Squaw Valley.

Q: What is your favorite discipline and why?

A: GS because there is no better feeling than linking a string of sweet GS turns together.

Q: How has this season been going so far? Are you on track for the goals you set out for yourself at the beginning of the season?

A: My season started really strong with a couple of Nor-Am podiums and a World Cup start at Killington. I, unfortunately, had some rough races at Burke after the New Year but I am still on track to go after a Nor-Am GS and slalom title, which I had set out myself this season.

Q: So where do you see yourself in five years?

A: If not competing on the World Cup, then I see myself working in the ski racing world while also pursuing big mountain skiing goals.

Q: If you could give yourself one piece of advice when you first started racing what would it be?

A: Compare yourself less to those around you and focus more on what you can do to better yourself.

Q: Can you walk us through your pre-race routine and describe how you mentally prepare?

A: My pre-race routine typically includes a morning warm-up (jog, dynamic warmup, core, and foam rolling), oats and coffee for breakfast, a couple of free ski warmup runs before and after inspection, and some visualization. I try to keep things as simple as possible from a mental standpoint. Honing in on one technical focus and one tactical focus seems to work the best.

Q: Finally, we have to know, if you could be any part of a burger what would it be and why?

A: I would be the pickle because it's sweet and salty

3/4 warmup

Super product, warm, easy on and off. Fits small so you might want to go up a size.
Great for training, no need to strip down to skin suit.
Love them.

Great Product

I wear them everyday, as I used to cut into my liners and skisocks on a regular basis and got scared to cut open my calves. They fit well and also keep your calves warm and snow free when you decide to not put your suit above your boot in slalom.

Essential for any racer

Perfect for training and keeping the elements off. Lightweight and great fit. Essential piece of clothing to keep in your bag at all times.

Men's 8120 Insulated Pant

Great quality, warm, functional, & good looking. What more do you want? I love this pant.

Best Bag Ever!!

Ski racing is one of those sports where you are always carrying a lot of gear. With the Locker pack, you will never have to worry about trying to fit everything in. There will never be one of those mornings where you have to debate what gets brought to the hill and what gets left behind, so you will always be prepared. The intense zippers also make it, so you know everything is protected in there. It is definitely the best bag I have ever used!
